Nostalgia Contest Entry
A couple, now in their '90's, owned this house by the water, and every evening at sunset, dressed in their Sunday best, after cocktails, of course, they strolled the beach arm in arm. Just this year the woman died and the man comes on occasion with his aide and sits in just one white rocking chair. I imagine he dreams of his lovely bride and the wonderful times they had in their house. Nostalgic memories allow him to savor what he once had and then in his imagination has all over again.
As James Taylor said: The secret of life/ is enjoying the passage of time./ Any fool can do it/ Ain't nothing to it./ Nobody knows what's at the top of the hill./ But since we're on our way down/ We might as well enjoy the ride.
