This is a picture of Ruby Makepeace who I met at a festival recently where she was waitressing in a cafe. I was struck by her red hair and since I have always longed to sketch a waiter/waitress at work, she kindly allowed me to do this A3 portrait for her. 'La Barista' means waitress in Italian. Also her unusual surname 'Makepeace' intrigued me, hence why I have incorporated it into the image. Furthermore, the 'R' on the ruby coloured cup is the initial of her first name 'Ruby'.
