Birds Photos Contest Entry
While out boating one afternoon, I spotted this Little Blue Heron, perched atop some fallen branches at the edge of a canal in southern Florida. The Little Blue Heron is distinguished by its intense color and compact size when compared to the Big Blue Heron. It is a shorebird that likes to wade along the shores of inlets, canals, ponds and the like, in search of small fish and crabs. Yes, that pink thing in his mouth is his tongue.
