White 'Tea ROSE'

....Tea Time

One expression I absolutely dread hearing this time of the year is "Frost Tonight!" So several days ago while picking Blackberries out near the very edge of my gardens I wasn't quite sure I had heard the guy on the radio correctly....it was ONLY September 2 after all!

Most of my flowers can handle a frost- even a fairly heavy frost quite nicely. Not the 'Tea ROSES' though. 'Tea ROSES' are the kind of ROSES you get if someone buys you a dozen ROSES (they are ridiculously expensive) and not at all hardy like the 'Shrub ROSE' I posted a couple of weeks ago. So I cut my 'Tea ROSES' (a white one, a pink one and a burgundy one) and gave myself a really lovely bouquet of eleven blossoms.

Pictured here is one of the white ones....sitting in a vase on top of the wood stove. While it DID get chilly that night it also clouded up and cloudy skies keep the temperature from dropping as quickly. So not only did I NOT build a wood fire- I probably would have been safe NOT cutting my ROSES. Oh well...LOL...the house smells divine!
