Mixed Media: None | One day while working on my computer, my dog Charlie kept trying to get my attention by whining and sitting up in his begging look at me pose. My camera was handy so I quickly took a few pictures, picked him up, played a bit, petted him and put him back down. He then just curled up and went to sleep. That was a pleasant morning. I then went about making a drawing of the silly grin he displayed while getting my attention. The process and detailed explanation is in the practice and post forum on the asingularcreation.com website if anyone is interested. The drawing is a charcoal, sepia and conte pencil on a 16 by 20 inch canvas. It was a lot of fun drawing this image. I still chuckle every time I look at it.

This drawing was done from a picture I took of my dog Charlie one morning while I as working on my compute. Charlie is a rescue dog with some special dietary needs. He is such a little character. The drawing was done with charcoal, sepia and conte pencil on canvas. I used the grid method to draw the form outline then erased the grid lines that I had drawn with a 2b pencil. Once the form was defined by the lines I shaded it in until finished. I thought about putting in a colored background by nixed it when it appeared, in my mind, that it would kill the spontaneous look of the natural canvas. I decided to leave the background unfinished to retain the focus on the animal.
