and taking a moment to say thank you

Poppies of Red

by SCHATZLING

Flowers - Art Contest Entry
I would only like to leave you with these few words that I have read somewhere and wrote down and placed in my quotables filing drawer filled with quotes I loved, admired, really means something deep to me, etc. (Sorry I do not know the author's name.)

BECAUSE THEY DID

YOU AND I ARE FREE

THAT IS WHY WE WEAR THE RED POPPY

YOU SEE

ADDITIONAL NOTE: A fellow veteran and good friend asked I include the following written by a good friend of his back in 2014 by the name of Claire Bell.

As I look upon my poppy, so delicate and true, may I take just a moment to say thank you. I did not know your name, your courage or your pain, the bravery in your heart that has given me my today.

As I look upon my poppy, so delicate and true, may I just take a moment, bow my head and remember you.

WE WILL REMEMBER YOU.

....and YES I painted only 4 (an even number) on purpose because not everything in the world of war is perfect....

Post Type Traditional Art Mixed Media None
Watercolors on large piece of butcher paper I had left over from a crafting project I worked on many years ago. I cut it down to 18 x 36 before I started my painting. I painted the dark background on purpose because when a soldier dies for our freedom it has become a dark day for the family no matter how honored the soldier may become. I painted the poppies red for their bloodshed. I included new blooms because of the younger soldiers all gung ho to go fight and kick some A _ _. I also painted somewhat of a blur to the flowers because soldiers fighting for our freedom and dying as result sometimes becomes clear as mud so to speak....not all is cut and dry and not all can be seen most perfectly.
