Paua Shell impression

I love the Paua shell jewellery which I first got when I visited my daughter in New Zealand. This is also known as Abalone. I've tried to capture an impression of the colours in these beautiful shells. I used watercolour paints, thoroughly wet 350 gsm Bockingford watercolour paper and dropped in several colours, sprinkled a little sea salt and waited to see what happened. I often do this procedure with my grandchildren and we have great fun picking out shapes.
