Mixed Media: None | This is a 16 by 20 inch oil on canvas painting of ancient ruins in Chaco canyon, New Mexico. It has taken me a few years to develop the technique of pallet knife strikes covered with blue washes to produce this type of sky. Using a pallet knife for the ruined buildings was also an interesting learning curve. I still have much to learn.

This is painting number 2 of 6 in the second painted collection of Chaco Canyon, New Mexico. While visiting there I think I became aware of why this place is considered sacred. I believe that a person must really walk these ruins alone to get the full visual and emotional impact it offers. I did. At first it was fearful. By the end it was a peaceful resolve. It felt like I belonged there. Don't know, but this might not be the last collection of paintings I do of this sacred spot on the earth.
