Found yesterday when visiting the local "Supervalu Supermarket" This Jacdaw ~ Corvus monedula or in Irish Cag. A small species of crow. All crows have sturdy legs and strong bills and are intelligent and social in nature. The Jackdaw is a small all dark grey crow with a lighter nape and neck side which contrasts with a blackish forehead. Has a uniform grey under wing, black legs and a lighter bill than the Hooded Crow. Pairs are usually seen together, both whilst foraging and roosting with other birds. This Jackdaw's plumage is affected by a lack of the pigment melalin causing a codition named Leucism that can give birds affected patches of pale feathers as seen in the Jackdaw or pale or white plumage, it differs from the Albino in that the eyes are unaffected & NOT pink. This Jacdaws companions were all black! Susan
