Mixed Media: None | Thanks to those of you that made suggestions on this piece. I was not happy with it and so I have reworked the brown areas. I made them larger and had them weave into the other shapes to create more of a rough branch type of feel.
I wanted to create an abstract forest labyrinth that made you feel as though you could walk into the tangles of the trees. This is six layers of designs. First I created my abstract shapes on my pastel board. The first layer is the lightest yellow green. I blended the colors keeping a dark edge on the outer rim of each shape. The second layer is a slightly darker green than the first. I kept the same dark edges and blended my colors. The third layer is a slightly bluer green. Same procedures with the dark edges. The fourth layers a dark blue that I blended keeping the edges dark. The fifth layer is the darkest blue purple. With this color I filled it in solidly to create that depth where there is no light filtering in. The sixth layer is the brown background. The original pale board was too light so I gave this layer a woody blend of browns. I have never done any piece this complicated before but I thought I should stretch myself.
