    Thanks Mk!
Yes, construction is another impacted industry. It will be interesting what they will do after hurricane season.
No one will be around to help rebuild.

oh there will always be someone legal or not to do the work.. if there is a union picket line..im the guy who would have no problem crossing it cause a job is a job..screw those whining union workers..they dont like the job or pay go work somewhere else let those who are willing to work..wink

I don't know. I see both sides. Frankly wages have remained stagnant whilst CEOs are making huge amounts yet using taxpayers to make up for the shit wages they pay their workers via local health clinics, food stamps, etc.
I do have a problem with union guys threatening parents repainting a classroom
because it's should be union work. That happened here.
I think there are some great things about some unions, but they have ended up being hugely discriminatory against women, minorities, etc. some you could not even join unless your father belonged, like a legacy thing. Total bull crap that.

Is complicated, but ultimately a few people at the top are making bank and making the rest of us fight for scraps. I mean hell, Goldman Sachs execs got huge bonuses after helping crash our financial system. That is where I think the issue is.

I have heard some whiny union dudes complain on job sites, so I hear ya. One guy was complaint about not getting enough work to pay for his new fishing boat and truck. Meanwhile most of us are scrambling to pay rent. So yeah...

That's why I make art. Much better then screaming my head off or drinking to numb my impulse to punch the hell out of someone.
    Keep it real MK!

well losing focus on one thing..in the major cities there are laws in place that a certain percentage of union people must be on the job site..while your looking at the union bosses your losing on focus on the politician that help make that law..that has been going on for decades so now it has become tradition..wink

I get that. Chicago for instance. We do not do trade shows there because of strong arm union bs.
And politicians? Well they pretty much are for sale to the highest bidder. Like I said, unions can go either way. I think workers should not get screwed, but the way unions have been run is everything for those union workers even in downturns and screw everyone else.
We had a transportation union here thinking about going on strike during the 2008/2010 downturn. People were so friggn pissed. Yeah, the called off the strike due to huge public outcry. We have are huge prison guard union here that's a friggn corrupt, over fed beast. They continually suck money from everything else.

I wholeheartedly agree with the politics of the situation as you describe it. The image is well conceived, if a bit light hearted. I like the composition and the grape colors.

Hi! Thank you so much for your review.
So, it's meant to be seen as light hearted but that is the point actually. People make jokes about taco trucks or change the channel or check out the game. A lot of fruit labels from the 40's and 50's where very colorful and exceedingly racist and sexist.
So, it's meant as a very serious subject, yet approached as if it was not. It's meant to get the viewer to really think about it and just as you did go "wait, this is kind of colorful and light for a really serious issue".
That's kind of the point, and you got it!

Very humorous illustration. It looks like a professional ad for Border Grapes. I like the way the grapes frame the photo in the center and bring attention to the brand. I do like the statement that you are saying here. Nice job.

Great concept, flawlessly, brutally direct and to the point. The composition and colors haunting. The razor vines convey that message of menace and unfairness. The poles are like armed guards waiting for these laborers to leave making sure they are not 'stealing' anything. The truth is that this country is because of immigrants both legal and illegal. Great work. Be well, safe home, walk in beauty. Rob

Thank you so much. Yup, you got it! It's amazing to me every wave of immigration causes the same reaction. We never learn.

Another fascinating and thought provoking, well made point in your narrative - a situation we have a proportion of here with regards to not necessarily illegal immigrants, but when we were in the E.U (that's another story, don't get me started!) it was Eastern Europeans who had the right to be here who were picked on for "stealing our jobs", mainly in construction but agriculture too, and generally the jobs people didn't want to do but were happy to moan about other E.U citizens doing. We may face a similar problem soon here in England, so it bears some striking resemblance to what you describe. And your depiction in this old fashioned advert style is fantastic, the sarcastic take off tag lines are superb and the razor wire and border control/fencing images are perfect for the piece, presented as colourful and cheery, and composed with great delivery. Fantastic work once again my friend :)

    Thank you Mundo!
People are upset about the wrong things. The issue is not immigrants taking jobs, but large global corporations setting us against each other for dwindling paychecks.
Wages here in the USA have been stagnant for decades, yet CEOs are making obscenely huge wages.
Meanwhile they say it's immigration, whilst they offshore jobs to slave labor sweat houses where there are no laws.
    It's obscene.
reply by El-mundo on 13-Sep-2017
I'm with you on that one my friend! It's common knowledge yet doesn't apparently exist, at least not to the extent and scale at which it is really occurring. Tragic really.

I love your in-depth commentary. We have Mexican workers in Canada too and an acquaintance we know, with a strawberry farm, said that when he leaves (for whatever reason) he always leaves the Mexicans in charge because they work hard and are much more dependable than others.

I like the gradient work on this piece Trajan, the colours catch the eye and titillate us visually. I don't know what HSA means. The only comment I have as a form of a critique is that you have mis-spelled the word illegal, it was the first thing I noticed and it stuck out like a thorn.

That drop shadow is realistic and well done and gives this image a 3D effect (as does your perspective drawing that is perfect.)
