It really is so beyond sad that we kill off entire species for their horns, teeth, skins and coats....Other than the sad reality of this piece, I was liking the thick textures of the sunset and your work on the rhino. I like how you used the shape of a bird too.

Hi Pamela I knew when I opened up your rhino painting I would find an interesting story that gave meaning and depth to your work of art today. Thanks for sharing both. Your well rendered rhino in brown and white tonings obviously represents the species most vulnerable to extinction. The use of unblended bold brush strokes in the background seem to give rise to tough times for these species; and the mixture of colours quite possibly represents the large number of hurdles they face in the wild as they struggle to exist. The nice rich foreground of well blended shades of green show the abundance of fodder is not the reason these beautiful animals struggle in their environment. I like your addition of the sunset in the shape of a bird, with the red brush strokes extending to the left of the scene. Perhaps this indicates that birds and rhinos co-exist nicely together. As always Pamela, your painting has so much inner meaning .. and is a joy to review. Well done with this meaningful and well rendered work of art. cheers mel

Hi Pamela

This is a very expressive piece of art celebrating an endangered species. I like the symbolism of the markings around the rhino which is halo-like. Excellent! R

Thank you, Raoul for your nice review and rating on this. The good news is that the African rhinos have made a comeback. Each African species was down in the low hundreds of animals. There is hope

Nice info notes with endearing social concern about extinction of the rhinos!

Representational presentation!

I like the unique unblended palpable impasto strokes in primary colors.

The mystical bird's yellow radiance lends some signs of hope for the creature's conservation...
I like the verdant foreground in deep tones...
Thanks for sharing...

This is very creative, it's a sad story, you have shown in your work, the rhino walking into extinction. I like the detail in the rhino and really like the bird shaped sun. I love all the color in the background.

Great informative notes and fine piece here Pamela.
I really like the texture in the background as well as your abstract like bird/sunset.
It is sad that they are killed only for their horns.
Nice that you bring awareness to this issue.
Nicely done :)

Thank you, Sange for your nice review and rating. There is hope. The black rhino was down to 100- 200 individuals. Now 2,000-3,000. Similarly the white rhino was way down. There are only 63 Javan Rhino in the wild
