Deborah the stamens on this lily are like a rainbow. You're lighting has captured all the various colors in it perfectly.
They look almost magical against the orange color of the petals. I see these flowers in other photographs but have not seen them this pretty as in this one. It really is amazing what happens with the right light, and this your case, night light! You really should've entered this in the contest, it would've been the best contender !
Cyber 10', I am out of sixes but it deserves one.

Thank you so much Marsha for having a look at this one. I just love the way my flowers look for me at night. I really should pay attention to some contests. Only thing I ever do is vote....lol Should try entering a couple now and then. Anyway, I do appreciate your wonderful review and very kind thoughts here. You're a doll!

Love the petal colors; great lighting; perfect dark background for making it stand out; the middle looks like a claw coming down to pick something out; or a spaceship flying off; good shadow effect; like green and blue in the middle add a lot to the piece; nice simple composition; kudos! Take care and keep warm. I'll enjoy my 80 degrees here. LOL.

I've been drawing a little. It's nice here again today. It started out a bit cool, in the 50s. Now, it's about 75 and sunny. Be careful in that nasty snow and rain.

A beautiful tiger Lily with strong colour which draws the eye , I like the glow this has which highlights all the details in the flower, the stamen stands out in detail
And with iridescent
Colours to it. I especially like the framing with a few petals going out of the frame. Eye catching flower image. Very well done.

Hi Deborah, thanks for sharing this amazing photo of the Lilium in your garden. What a wonderful capture of those stamen sitting within the petals at that time.. The colouring in the petals is stunning with its golden flow and the orange red contast boasting its beauty throughout the petals. The photo is so clear it shows every marking on the stamen.. the colours of which are almost luminous against the backdrop of the petals. Great angle used to capture the shape of the outer petals and of course the beauty of the ' growing pistol and stamen in the centre.
Love the black background to compliment the lilium perfectly. What an interesting story accompanies your photo.. and I never knew liliums had such an effect on cats.. They are used here in Australia quite abundanty by florists .. Their long lasting flowers are often sold as ' cut flowers' .. which make a pretty show in any vase.. Love liliums in the garden. I bet they are a picture of joy when these little gems bloom in that ever so stunning garden of yours Deborah.. You must take a photo of them when they are doing their thing... in amongst your delightful trees and shrubs... thanks for sharing this awesome Tiger lily ... deserving of notation always. a total joy to review. cheers mel

It's only the 'Tiger Lily' in the LILLIUM family that is toxic to cats Melyuki. In fact, it has components that can be detrimental to other Lilies as well. Interesting, huh? I don't plant these next to any other varieties of Lilies exactly for that reason. They live in a bed w/ other perennials but no other Lilies. You are just a doll for doing up such a thorough review here. Thank you so much....and I promise to post some of this gorgeous bed later on in the season when it's in full and glorious bloom!

A blazing capture of the colorful petals and the visually soothing cool colors of the reproductive features.

Compact framing.
Subdued lighting.
Selective focusing with the stigma as the sharpest!

Obscure surroundings lends a perfect backdrop making the subject aesthetically visible!

Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

Thanks for sharing...

To be honest with you, I don't like the picture, but, it's well done. Very colorful, fills the frame nicely, and good impact. From a botanical viewpoint, I'm sure it's a very good picture. Your description is very helpful.

I would sound like a braggart Monica if I said how beautiful I think my gardens are by mid-summer....lol There are several pieces in my portfolio that show sections of my gardens....can't get everything into one image of course but will work on more 'big picture' pieces this season. Thank you so much for such lovely comments here. I do really appreciate them.

I love the Tiger Lily! I like the focus on the stamens with the increased saturation of color. This is very attractive with an artistic feel. The petals almost look like flames. Very well presented and a pleasure to view!

I've been surprised Pat at the number of reviewers that have mentioned 'flames' But, of course, you're all right. The petals DO look like flames. Do appreciate the lovely review you've given my new piece. Thank you so much.
