This image was inspired by a book I red many years ago called "Hymn at the End of the Journey". It was about the Titanic, but from another angle than we are used to. This book was mostly about the orchestra onboard the ship.
It's not entirely clear what the final song actually was. Most of the survivors reported hearing the band play "Nearer my God to Thee," a hymn which would have certainly been appropriate for the final moments of a sinking ship. Yet, at the time, the hymn was played to several different melodies. The British would have recognized the "Horbury" melody as "Nearer my God to Thee," while the Americans would have recognized the "Bethany" melody, and yet both British and American survivors reported hearing "Nearer My God to Thee" as the final song.
I have used quite a few photographs for this creation. The background was a seascape with hills. I inverted it, and the hills turned to icebergs. The photo of Titanic is a picture of a toy boat belonging to my grandson, and I had to do some adjustments. All the small windows are painted on with yellow. Another photo used as a layer was the sky with rays of light coming through the clouds. The angle in the sky is a Photoshop brush, and so is the orchestra. I also added stars. Of course a lot of different adjustments has been done during this process.
