I love elephants and wanted to try and capture them in their natural environment. I was inspired by a photograph in a magazine of several elephants at a waterhole but only wanted to show a mother and her calf. These are African elephants and the ears are larger than the Asian elephants. I used water mixable oils and palette knife and brushes on acrylic paper for this. The acrylic paper was an experiment but think it would have been better on canvas!
