Rain Drops on Canna Leaf

Colorful Rain Drops

Water In Nature Contest Entry
Quite by accident I noticed the Canna leaves drenched in rain drops after a quick downpour. The sun had just come out and was shining in my eyes as I went out my back door, so I instinctively looked down, away from the glare and caught the glimmer of the raindrops on the flowering Canna leaf. I don't think I ever appreciated them before. Their bold stripe patterns always reminded me of clown's pants in the circus, and I've never been a fan of circuses so I never spent much time admiring these leaves until that sun drenched afternoon when the rain illuminated and magnified their rich, vibrant pattern. To shoot it, I squatted down so that my eye was level with the leaf and then starting shooting. I imagined it as a really colorful waterfall to some tiny creature, like an ant, and that was the effect I was going for, the abstract.
