the dinner hall with its very german menu /pork/ was mainly for Germans and a very few europeans but the food was too heavy for most of us. The Africans and Asians came mainly to the Cafe as I did and provided me with an opportunity for endless portraits inbetween studying languages and I anyway love cafe drawing which I rarely do here, as in a city the cafes are too overcrowded and busy, no one sits long enough, even for my quicky- sketches, and if you sit too long, someone begins to glower at you from the Staff.
