I know this isn't a traditional angle to present of butterflies, but I really like the sharp looking edge of the wings and how this pose makes the butterfly resemble an aircraft.

Butterfly wings have tiny scales that help lift them despite their low speed during flight. Their unique micro-pattern reduces drag and likely increases thrust and lift during flapping and glided flight. These scales are the reason that you should not touch butterfly's wings. While damage to the scales doesn't usually result in them not being able to fly, it does require more flapping for the butterfly to remain in the air.

Another interesting thing about butterflies (and moths and bees) is that they drink the tears of turtles, alligators and crocodiles. It is called lachryphagy, which literally means "tear feeding". They do this to get sodium and other minerals needed for egg production and metabolism. I'd like to get a picture of that! I guess it's an extremely rare phenomenon to witness.
