I thought it was funny to find these wood ducks, on wood in duckweed! I took a shot straight on too, which was also cute.

Wood ducks, unlike most waterfowl, perch and nest in trees and are comfortable flying through the woods. Their short broad wings and broad tail make them maneuverable. These guys stay around wet areas full of cattails and trees.

When they swim, their heads jerk back and forth a lot like the way pigeon do when they are walking. The males have all that gorgeous array of color, but I think this mama and her ducklings look pretty cute too.
