Brown Thrasher

Eat It, Its Good For You!

So how do you get your kids to eat their vegetables? This is a first for me, I have never photographed, let alone seen a fledgling Thrasher before. You can tell by the color of the eye, it is still bluish. In the adult the eye color will turn to raptor yellow. These birds shun open ground like feeders etc. They live and eat in low shrubs and bushes. The young one doesn't equate feeders with food - so mom is teaching it about sunflower seeds. In this shot Mom just returned from the feeder with several seeds lined up in her beak which she has just given to junior. By the time they left junior was flying to the feeder and helping itself. I selected Shutter Priority for these takes. I adjusted exposure compensation and K scale to help speed things up. The saving grace for this shot is the Tamron Image Stabilization system in the lens, it has the longest hold time of all my glass. Hope you like the shot ... Bob
