The Chateau de Roquefixade, an ancient Cathar castle in the Ariege region of Southern France. If you know nothing of the Cathars they're worth Googling, basically a middle ages religious order who really annoyed the Pope of the time. Not often visited this castle stands on a 'pog' ; a vertical rock intrusion making attack pretty difficult, but attacked it was apparently. An incredibly peaceful place to spend a summer evening but be warned you should descend before dark as the path is both slippery and very steep. An awesome feat for the time carrying the stones for the castle's construction up this steep slope
