I love this idea ! At first when I saw the boy in the background I thought he was admiring the view. Then I saw the Crab in his hand and realized what was happening . They look like they could use sunscreen ! I feel as if there was someone else in the background or maybe even an umbrella it would not look so sparse .

Lol..here is what is funny to me..if have 10 other artists and a cartoonist (which is me) all draw the same concept we would all different variations of this scene..in your work you would do that , however I wouldn't..and there would maybe add other things and again I wouldn't. Unlike many out there I'm not going to explain what it is cause the viewer does recognize it immediately. I do realize that you don't have much knowledge of the sharpie and Bic pens by your comments on the skin. See sharpie doesn't have skin tones ..so over the last half century I have taught myself to blend in these pens colors..in this creation there are 5 colors blended in for the skin and not one is the color pink. If you want to put yourself into a challenge go out buy a 24 pack pen set and play with it see what you can do. If you have any questions after that give me holler and I'll throw ya tips..wink..thanks for the review

Thank you for your review of my review. I would like to inform you that I do have knowledge of rendering with markers and pen and ink as well ! I do know that Letraset markers do have a fleshtone markers . Part of my schooling as a commercial artist was product rendering with markers . As for the remark about the composition yes I may have done it different but part of my making a living as an artist I do have to listen to the suggestions of others and except that my way is not the one that is always correct,,,wink

well thats cool john and i didnt say your way isnt right..i just mention on many artist would come up with different approaches and my is the one im satisfied with..i do thank you for your suggestion on it...now far as the other on the skin ..its like this i set a goal many decades ago to excel with sharpie and bic pens only..i taught myself on blending colors. shading..trying different technics..over the decades i have done 1000's of drawings (i only have a 1000 on portfolio here on FAR. won several contest over the years..got my stuff the sharpie sponsored music video "Purple" that was aired on the MTV Movie Awards back in September 2012. illustrated some books for some writers..have 19 illustrated music videos on YouTube.com under "MKFlood Presents" and i invite you to check that out when ya get the time. im now starting on a new music video project which ill be posting it within the hour. the only thing bout me i never had any classes ever. between growing up thru the action comics world since the 60's and checking out books at the library..but cool for you that got lessons and put a living to it as well (thumbs up). thanks for the response

Who has more fun down at the shore than a kid. Wait a minute don't answer that. A great drawing that captures the spirit of a day at the beach very well.

Well it is not an exaggeration..I do have over a 1000 drawings in my portfolio here on FAR. Betcha never got a chance to check out any of those illustrated music videos. No problem. They will be there when you get ready to watch. thanks for the great review

the technique you use here is different. As always, totally professional and perfect in every way. Interesting and carefully structured, with feet tailing off into the greens and head and arm giving balance to give the symmetry to the piece so as not to overwhelm it with waves. Simple shape with boy in the centre to point out to sea. Excellently balanced.

Ha, I believe you could do it! Great summer contest entry that shows two completely different activities in a fun way. Rendered beautifully as always and with great facial expressions. Good luck.

I recognize that evil grin...with seven brothers I see it all the time...lol. This is a very good representation of summertime fun. I like ve the mischievous boy with his crab that he is about to toss upon the sunbathing beauty. As usual, your figures are expertly rendered as are the details of your waves and beach.

This is an amusing and realistic image. I think we all had our moments. There are so many ways "boys will be boys." Good presentation of this scene. Good color choices. Nicely presented.
