This is a fine scene and thanks for sharing it. The people believe that these dips grant blessings. In the Christian religion we believe that water baptism follows Christ's example. You are wonderfully tough to withstand that cold water. Best wishes in the contest; these are people of a different culture. Do they ever hold this festival in warmer weather for those too delicate or afraid of a frigid dip? This is interesting.

People take holy dips all through the year. But this particular planet configuration mostly falls during the winter months.I just took 3 dips Thank you so much for taking the time to review my painting and for sharing your thoughts.

This is a fine capture of the cultural and beliefs of Hinduism. Bathing in the Ganges River is a traditional cleansing, a new beginning all attoned. Very nice capture of this happening. Ray

A very interesting, colourful & beautiful picture of Kumbha Mela a major pilgrimage and festival in Hinduism showing people taking the ceremonial dip in the River Ganges. Very interesting composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
