This is an awesome shot of the Osprey and his meal. The other guests probably were hoping he would loose his grip. our focus is supper showing the details very well. Composition is perfect and just the right amount of background blur, recognizable but not distracting. Well capture and glad you posted.

Thanks much Cindy for your wonderful review and comments. With many birds shots you have little time to get a shot. With this guy he was patient, it stayed in this position for over a half hour. I was able to take my time to get a good shot. Thanks for the high rating!!!

Oh WOW! This was what I was hoping to capture last summer up in North Pole , it of course didn't happen ! The Osprey is a fascinating bird, they are great at catching fish , I also want to capture that action one day. They are so fast!
This is a wonderful capture Allan! Spot on focus, this image is sharp and clear and your exposure is correct . The colors and tones appear natural.
The bird is perfectly placed within the frame leaving plenty of room for it to enjoy its fresh caught fish. It's a rather large fish and you have shown it so well too!
This is a great storytelling image, very well composed and presented!

Thanks so much Pat. My goal is also some day to catch a diving Osprey in search of a meal. I felt lucky to get his image. He was not that high in the tree and was very patient. He would often look in different directions. When I wanted him to look (stare!) at me I would whistle and he stared at me in an intimating way! : ))
That was a fish that I wish I had caught!

It isn't often you see photos of an Osprey with a captured fish, and you have indeed pictured this well. The light is falling on the bird in such a lovely way, and it is also standing out well from the softened background.
The photo is pin sharp showing truly clear and well defined details both in the bird and the fish, and the white balance and exposure is perfect.
The format is very good, and with the Osprey placed off to the left it is a very good balance in the composition. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo Allan, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Yes guess it is a capture by the osprey in this,i might have waited till the letter o came up though,although you could have done the contest yourself and this would have been more suited to that one,but in saying that it is a good photo of the osprey with outstanding dof as well,good one....Brian
