High on initial impact. An amazing sight of the wonders of nature. Love the well-defined image. The composition is so realistic, as well as the choice of colors. Painted with high degree of expertise, technique and skills. Presented with excellence. Well done.

Suzanne, this is very well done. I really love how your piece conveys the gentle beauty behind these very large animals. A lot of that has to do with the very delicate rendering you have done throughout the whole piece. The colors are wonderfully muted and I love the sheen you have given to water and the very nice reflections. I assume the title refers to the fact that they are way ahead of the others.

Beautifully portrayed and so lovingly painted. This is one fine work of art. "Elephants in the Mist" springs to mind was my first thought so subtly created are the underplayed shades of grey and how they mesh so well within this excellent composition.
Well done Suzanne!
Jimmy.

Comment from Jean A Cormier
This piece has a dream like quality to it, almost as if the mother and baby are enveloped by soft mist. Possibly the medium on paper has the effect o giving it a opaque quality. In any case, it is a charming and delicate presentation of motherly care! Proportionally pleasing, good balance with the hint of the herd on the right. You bring the environment's colors right in the animals and give just enough definition ! Jean

Thank you so much for your lovely review. The title meant that they were first to the water hole with the other elephants in the distance! Suzanne
