I was waiting for a lion - love these royal calm beings - a beautiful portrait - this face is very expressive showing perfectly the goodness in his eyes - lions are very patient only when it gets too much they go for a stop action , super detail work, the way you placed him in your frame, is very nice as the face just out at the first look - handsome work on his hair and the color shades - as always I live your simple backgrounds letting the cat stand out for goog - well done

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It's awkward sending pastels by post as they should really be behind glass to stop the chalk moving as the fixatives don't protect it that much but I could send a print of it if you would like. The original is 12" x 8.5" and a print would be A4 size, costing £5. My e-mail is suzannethompson222@gmail.com if you would like one. Suzanne

Also I love the cats, Suzanne! The big and the smalls. Love the facial expression and the details of the mane and the fur, like the scrutiny of light eyes. Great color, lighting, and very nice shading. Well done.

Very nicely done. The capture of the cat is great, very clear lines in his face, good details in his fur. Great background colours.

Very nice pic. The look in his eyes is so intense. Makes "King" the right term. I'm afraid the fate of lions is like so many wild animals. What a horrible shame it would be if the only ones left were in jail--sorry, I meant Zoos.

he looks like he is very relaxed and resting at the same time as standing guard,,you have captured him so proud yet powerful again with the soft touch of the quiet property that you skillfully bring to your works,,,thanks for sharing.

Interesting facts per artist notes about the FIV. Indeed this Lion King is settling himself with pride here. Love texture of his soft hair and the shaggy coat. Great focus, showing clarity and definition of the features of his face such as his whiskers. Realistic choice of colors. painted with great technique and skills. Presented with excellence. I like the green grass and blue background, too. Well framed.
