You are the bird lady. Another great shot in perfection. I raised a flicker, purple martin, and a shrike all as bitty babies together, when I use to work for a local veterinary office, years ago. The flicker was my favorite. He use to stick his tongue in everything, even your eye if you let him set on your head.

I have only seen this bird one time when it briefly landed on a tree in my yard, instead of trying to photograph it, I ran in to call fish and game to identify it for me! They are pretty birds and you have photographed it very well, I like the birds position in the frame and it's pose on the Branch, well focused, the image is clear, exposure is well managed, colors and tones appear natural, nice clear eye complete with catch light! Well composed and presented!

This is a wonderful shot of the bird! You have framed it well. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!

Could your nice photo be of a thrush? Your fine and off-centre composition allows us an enjoyable look at your handsome bird and it's location. Sharpness and exposure are good. Nicely done!

Thank you! He does share some of the same colors as a thrush, but this guy is a yellow shafted Flicker. You might be able to see a small bit of the yellow outlining his wing in this shot.

I bow to your to your local knowledge!

Lol! Thanks Nik. I wouldn't intentionally steer you wrong :)

I have only seen this bird once five years ago at the Wetlands. Unfortunately it was too far away but we enjoyed observing and watching him.
This is a fine sharply focused capture of this Flicker up in a tree framed out by branches.
Great find and capture Greenie!
Focus, white balance, crisp details and eye clarity with bonus catch light are all superb here.
Nicely done my Fiend :-)

Very sharp image of this bird that I've never heard of before very nice markings and you have captured them well. I like the way the various branches go up and he sits framed by the one he is on and the trunk.

Aren't the body feathers intriging on this bird And are certainly a little different to the ones around the head. Expression as well capture is nicely done, another top work from you

Thank you! They have really nice markings. The red on the back of his neck is triangular and the underside of their wings are yellow, which you only see when they are in flight. The other type of northern flicker (red shafted) has a reddish orange color under their wings.
