In Norway we call them Akeleie, and I actually have a few of them in the garden. You have painted these little beauties so well and I like that you are showing them in different colors. I also like the textured background and the contrast between light and dark.
As always your brush work is fine, and especially the yellow stamens are very detailed. It is fine shadings in the flowers as well.
The format and framing is very good and I like the diagonal placement of the flowers on the canvas. A truly lovely and well done digital painting Cleo.

I love columbine, they actually grow wild here.
You have created these lovely columbine blossoms with such realistic shape and structure, the pretty pink and purple petals fold back away from the smaller petals that form the center and frame the stamens. I like the way you positioned them to allow a good sense of how these flowers grow. Like the color patterns as well. Well created, beautifully arranged and presented!

I recognize these blooms immediately. Very pretty springtime flowers which many people grow in their gardens. Like your interpretation with a group of three, framed by foliage. Colours all harmonize well together. Very pretty. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you very much. Springtime in the gardens, but summer in the mountains. Those are the wild ones which grow in the northern hemisphere. I have seen them in heights of 10,000 feet in the Bighorn Mountains.

This is so pretty, and I love the hazy background, like the "bokeh" in close-up photography. Harlequin and Columbine were famous characters from Italian theater in Venice, and I always thought the flowers were named for Columbine's long, bright skirts and petticoats. Anyway, the flowers make me think of a carefree girl kicking up her skirts as she runs through a meadow. Could I try a few petals in my salad if I'm careful?

You are right. The Bokeh was exactly for what I was going for. Thanks for seeing that. That makes my day.
The idea of Columbines multi colored costume is excellent. Maybe she is called after the flower. Its an Italian name. Literally it means Dove.
I haven't heard of petals being poisonous, but you never know. Maybe ask an native American? LOL
