A truly perfect and powerful photo! As a testament to that -- and this was crazy but not surprising -- the second I saw this picture, I began to smell the typical smell of a hallmark candle (the kinds that aren't offensive, of course! haha). It's this connection to my senses, the mark of great artwork, that inspired me to give you one of my mostly unused 5+ ratings! The message is clear and simple - simplicity is beautiful. Also, to me, it means something more to that.. that the true meaning of Christmas should be simple, peaceful, joyous. Not the extravagant crap that retailers promote! (And I realize that perhaps you didn't mean this to connect to Christmas.. but the golden color scheme and flame.. it could!)
Focus on the flame is right where it should be, and the DoF is really perfect to enhance the artistry of this shot.. I especially like this blurring in the foreground.. gives the flame a gentle and appropriate frame. Dark background is obviously ideal for contrast, and helps hold attention on the lit foreground. Off-center placement keeps the shot looking dynamic. And of course I love love love the rippling of the golden "water" candle wax. A nice touch and adds to the simplicity feeling. Beautiful photo, a true testament to the power of a simple composition! Thanks for sharing!

I do like this photograph, the burning light draws you in - works well with the candle holder as it also seems to increase the impression of moving water being set alight. Good notes.
