It is not much that can a sunflower against a lovely blue sky, and I also like a lot that the photo was taken showing the back side of the flower. This because the green part of these flowers are just as lovely and interesting as the flower itself.
Your photo is of course also pin sharp and it is really clear and well defined details to be seen both in the petals of the sunflower and the greens. I also think the exposure is perfect and the colors are crisp and clear.
The tight cropping is working well, and the flower is well placed within the frame. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo with a very good DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

I like the unusual angle you chose for this close up of the lovely Sunflower. Great contrast between the bright blue sky and vibrant yellow petals. I like how you show the leaves curling up around the petals. Very good lighting and focus. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne
