Very nice shot. This doesn't look like the standard swallowtail. The wing structure and markings are just a little different, and the tail looks longer. Good color and focus that shows the details very well. Nice flower. Good background. Well seen.

I always love butterflies. They are so bright and colorful, and always have unique patterns on them. You have captured this little guy perfectly all around. Well done and thanks for sharing this with us. :)

A beautiful butterfly in prime condition. I had one in my garden yesterday and it was so battered that I was surprised it could still fly. A beautiful composition with great details and very nice colors.

Hi supergold thanks for sharing this fabulous snap shot of the tiger swallowtail butterfly visiting in your garden. what a splendid photo.. you have truly captured the butterfly in great detail.. loving the angle used to show off its beauty .. in this well balanced perfectly exposed picture.. the defined striped effect on its upper wings most definitely befit its name ' tiger'. your well focused image really shows each of the segmented part of the butterflies upper portion of its body. the red upon black splash of colour under its wings is rather striking and accentuates its glorious beauty even further. its antennae also posses that slightly striped effect as they reach beyond into the surrounding atmosphere, guiding this little creature as it journeys through life. the orange/yellow underwings are clearly defined .. a great inclusion in your photo .. showing their transparent appearance and the fragility of its delicate body parts.. even the tiny legs are seen with great clarity.. and add to the finer detail you have cleverly captured.. as it poses for your camera upon that lovely mauve bloom.. love the choice of background hues used to make this tiger swallowtail truly pop.. the hues harmonize beautifully with the colour of the butterfly.. nicely composed to complete this delightful scene. nature is wonderous and your photo shows me just how joyous this amazing butterfly is in our vast world of creatures... thanks for sharing your garden visitor.. may he thrive within your foliage and flowers.. a delight to review. cheers mel

Fred,
A beautiful picture of the Eastern Tiger Swallow Tail Butterfly on the mauve Verbena flower head sucking nectar it's wings closed but the "Tiger stripes" still clear with the
sun shining down on the wings. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Oh wow! This butterfly has such unique and gorgeous features! Omg I love the detail you captured and great contrast between the flowers and the butterfly! The background is also effectively buffered and faded perfectly! If I had enough 6 star ratings this would definitely have one! Gorgeous!
