I know, it is amazing what these long, thin necked birds can get down their thin necks! Even pelicans have those big elastic pouches as you know, but I swear I once saw a pelican swallow a fish half its own size! You got nice detail on this crisply feathered bird here. I love this photo ! I love the clarity and detail of the Heron ! And the fact that he or she caught a fish is a bonus . I really appreciate the patience you must have exercised to get this! Just beautiful I could see this in a National Geographic !

Some how I am sure he knows what to do next. Very nice timing in this shot of the bird fishing. The water in the back does a good job of setting off the head and the dangling fish. Nice sharp focus allows all of the details to be easily seen. Nice job.

It looks like he has caught a catfish. A beautiful bird in a great setting. I like the composition that includes the tuft of grass in the corner. The colors are superb and the dark water really makes the bird stand out.

Gee, I never thought of the difficulty fishing birds have in learning to swallow what they catch without using their hands or feet. O love the way the sunlight illuminates the size of the heron, his catch, and the gold and green grasses in the corner.

Fred,
A beautiful picture of this Grey Heron in the early morning the sun low in the sky lighting up the scene & highlighting the fish & the Heron just seconds before it throws up its head while swallowing the fish. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera the reflections on the water are an added bonus., taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
