The Red Chimney

A home with a red chimney

A passerby certainly can't miss this house! While the red chimney is too brazen for my home decorating taste, your photo is very well done. The tree on the right, plus the evergreens, tone down the red dominance, and the snow adds some softness to the loud color.

Thank you so very much for your wonderful review and generous rating! I love this red chimney on the house but I absolutely would change the color if it were mine!

You have a good eye. This picture would make a great Christmas card. The general focus is good and the depth of focus excellent. Lovely balance to the whole picture.

Now this shot would be perfect for selective coloring. I would keep only the red chimney and convert the rest to Black and White. ;)
Fine capture Pat! Fine focus, exposure, POV and great pop of color!

Thank you so much! Brian actually said the same thing, I never even thought of selective coloring here, but I did it and really liked it!

Striking red feature stands out in this composition.

Sharply focused.
Fine architectural structure, features & textures.
Nice off centered framing.

Monochromatic foliage against a bright snowy surrounding.
Bluish gray clouds add a soothing touch..
Good perspective & long depth of field...

Thanks for sharing...

Winter definitely intruded your area. It looks as if there are several inches of white fluff on the ground and clinging to the trees. The red chimney draws our eyes into the photo. The photo has a nice dept and fine natural colors. It is well focused and sharp throughout. The building is well placed right of center. The photo is well framed and balanced.

The red chimney does stand out in this one Pat,think though this was crying out for selective color in this b/w with a red chimney would have made this a lot better, still nice though...Brian

What an interesting color to have for a chimney with the plain color of the house. I like how it stands out and how especially nice it looks with the snow.

This is a good one and the red chimney captures immediate attention of the viewer. I may have gone a bit close or cropped a bit from the bottom. The washed out area is a bit of distraction.

I was going to choose one of the fantastic sceneries, however, when I saw that red chimney I had to choose this one. I think as a safety measure and many other reasons, that magnificent red chimney is just fantastic, like an amazing marker. Clever family!

I am completely satisfied at viewing your superior scenic 'Winter Wonderland' looking photograph. Winter is my second favorite season to experience- Autumn is my first- and I can't wait to see the pristine snow when it arrives where I live. Your 'The Red Chimney' picture is perfect to showcase the month of January on a Calendar, and also to be a Christmas card cover photo.
