It looks petrified and is most likely a very old rock. The way the colors ebb and flow is very interesting against the darker background.

Your image has a great amount of interesting texture, and the ring pattern stands out really well showing the depth of the layers nicely. I like how the black background showcases the rock's unique design and colors.

An out of the box posting. The macro shot throws up interesting textures similar to the wood and corals. The image has clarity. You have framed it well. Good luck in the contest.

What a cool find in your garden!
I have never seen a rock that resembles a piece of wood with the textures and rings.
Very cool!
Fine capture, exposure, textures and nice all dark background.
I love rocks and have a large selection. I have a very cool rock about this size from Finland.
;)

It's actually a very neat looking stone. Reminds me of the inside of a geode. Love the rings and the shape of it. You photographed it well. Good focus and lighting is good. Dark background really makes it stand out.

My first impression was that this was in fact petrified wood. Outstanding detail and color with the shadows providing a depth to the image. Well done.

What a neat find,I thought you had a piece of petrified wood here! Those rings do look for all the world like the growth rings you would see in a cross section of a tree trunk.Detailing in the rings is excellent, and the image stands out nicely against the black background.A wonderful entry for the contest, wish you all the best.

An interesting subject that is shown in very fine detail and beautiful colors. I like the tight cropping and the way the stone stands out from the dark background. Best of luck in the contest.
