Hi LIse, When I took the image I didn't even notice the ant so I got an added bonus. I thought I had a chance of winning but didn't. Thanks for thinking you had some competiion with me. Glad you enjoyed the image. Thanks for the great review! :o) Nancy

Hi James, Since you're such a great painter and feel this mixed media resembles a painting made my day! Thanks for the great review! :o) Nancy

OMG!!! This piece is fantastic! Your inspired use of mixed media applications have created a piece of transcendental art that offers a new interpretation of a Dahlia. The petals stand out but don't completely dominate the scene. The Bee details are sharp and clean as are those of the Ant (I'm glad you kept him in the shot).
If the bee and the ant were removed and someone asked me to look at the Dahlia and could I tell if it is a photo or a painting - Honestly, I would be hard pressed to say it is a photograph. The bold color along with the highlighting of the petals lines and curves gives it a 60's Peter Max style.
I can say with all sincerity that since I have return to FAR this is the finest example of mixed media photography I have seen. I will be very surprised if this entry doesn't place in the top three, good luck ... Bob P. B-))

WOW! Bob, that's quite a review! For you to say this is the finest example of Mixed Media you have seen means more than even the six stars you gave it! Thank you so much for the extraordinary review! I am incredibly honored by it! :o) Nancy

Oh Nancy, I would have liked so much to give you 6 stars for this beautiful photo, but I have already run out. I think you did right by entering this into the bug contest, even if the curly petals of the Dahlia are truly lovely. Also the colors of the flower are great, and I can fully understand why the bee just picked out this one. Looks like a little ant thought the same.
Your photo is very sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen both in the petals of the flower and the bee. I also think the exposure is very good.
The format and framing is perfect, and the Dahlia with the bee has got a fine placement within the frame. I also like your creative editing. It is working really well on this photo. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Beautiful photograph of the Dahlia bloom and the bee.
I can see the dilemma of making a choice between the two contest. The unique colors on the center bloom are gently camouflaging the bee. The yellow is framing the bug so nicely. The vivid red and the texture are perfect.
Wonderful details and great depth with good composition.
Best of luck in the contest.

OMG, I think I need to create a personal 6 star as this one deserves it 100%. Your close up is fantastic as this little bug is excellent in close up, showing us the outstanding details of this flower center, finishing up like my own artistic creations. Your adjustments are perfect in details, as your colors are shining in all details, your contrast and lighting are perfectly adapted, the angle and position of your picture is exceptional, and your first impression is awesome as well - All the best for the contest, xoxo

Your mixed media is outstanding. I am impressed by the crispness of detail of the wings and of the body of the Bee. The light reflection at the transparent wings and in the eyes are especially intriguing. The colors are attractive. The bee is perfect placed within the frame. The mixed media is expertly composed. The composition is balanced.
