Hi Barbara, What a cool perch to capture this red winged blackbird on. Though I have seen this kind of grass, I've never seen any bird perched on it. It makes for a very interesting picture! Nice focus with pretty good lighting too. A joy to come across and see. :o) Helvi

Nice capture. The angle of the shot of this red wing bird is great. The clarity is great. The capture of the light is great. The presentation is balance and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall.

An excellent image of this male Red-winged Blackbird.

The composition is wonderful as it contains the bloomed marsh plant which is entering the frame from the lower right and running diagonally across the frame.

The plant leads the eye to the blackbird which is well placed in the scene.

The focus is sharp and the colors are nicely rendered.

Good eye for seeing the potential in this one and excellent camera skills.

Well done Barbara ~ Steve

This is a nice picture, taken from such a great uncountable position, so we can see this bird from a different angle - sitting on a special color section so all the content is wonderful - were you in the sky to take this picture?
A super result, xoxo

    No I wasn't in the sky. I was on a path next to a pond that was surrounded by this grass. Thank you so much for the great review!

A lovely photo of this male redwing perched on some decorative grass. Nice off center placement, excellent focus and exposure, the beautiful background is nicely diffused and the soft colors a nice contrast to the stark black of the redwing. Nice job!

This is a wonderful shot of the bird. You have framed it well. The light and shadows, colours and, composition have worked out well. Good effort!

I love it, love the focus with the background there but not distracting, the birds eye is well seen, the beautiful plant is cool, I have so much trouble taking photos of these guys as they are always on the move, you did well here

Wow! That is a beauty Barbara. Love the tones and the details. Love the bright orange and the nice detail in the black and that fluffy branch. Perfect background also. A stand-out!

a red-winged (that I always find to be rather orange) on the top of a Pampa grass originating from Argentina;
excellent sharp details of the bird's black feathers;
