The Pollinator

by Life is but a dream.

Pollinators Contest Winner
Pollinators, such as most bees and some birds, bats, and other insects, play a crucial role in flowering plant reproduction and in the production of most fruits and vegetables.

Did you know that meat eating mammals also help to pollinate. Cape grey mongooses and large-spotted genets, which are both carnivores, surprised researchers in South Africa when they were captured on remote video visiting ? and pollinating ? sugarbush plants (Protea). Here in Thailand the elephant also helps to spread seeds through their excrement.

?If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.? ? Albert Einstein.

A special thank you to K. Banich for putting up an educational contest. Also a special thank you to Becky, (Nature Rules) for guiding me to the smudging technique which has been applied to the flower and background but not to that pollen covered pollinator.
