Despite the name these ugly insects they are not native to Jerusalem. They mainly are in the Western USA and Mexico. They have a very mean bite with extreme strength in their jaws and claws. They are not venomous but emit a super foul smell. Sometimes called the ~Spawn from the Devil~ because of its looks and on the top of its head appears the faint face of the devil himself. These insects are nocturnal and mainly feed on dead organic matter like roots and tubers. Occasionally they do attack and eat other insects. This little guy was not happy with me putting him on the hood of my truck in the afternoon and taking his photo. Oh yes. He sure did try to get me but his claws kept slipping.
