Fantasy Art Contest Contest Entry
The Lilac Fairy is a character from the ballet The Sleeping Beauty, music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
The character was added to the ballet version of the classical fairy tale La Belle au bois dormant (The sleeping Beauty) by Charles Perrault.
Ivan Vsevolozhsy, who created the original scenario in 1888, added several characters from other fairy tales by Perrault to the original story. The ballet was first performed in 1890 choreographed by Marius Petipa.
Several modern stage versions were created since.

I used photos by Leslie E. Spatt as reference. The photos were published by Puffin Books (Penguin Group) 1997 in the edition Behind The Scenes At The Ballet, Rehearsing and Performing The Sleeping Beauty.
