This is a first for me using this surface. It is 140lb. Hot Press watercolor paper which has a very smooth surface. It was much easier to mix my washes on than the rough paper I am used to using. I wanted to create a scene that showed the freedom of summer. I wanted to have a child running on a wet beach. The photo of this image has been in my inspiration folder for over a year and I finally got up the courage to try and recreate it. I sketched it lightly and created the reflection of the boy by turning my paper and my image upside down. I layered many washes to achieve the reflections in the very shallow water. I wanted the shoreline and its buildings to only be seen as a reflection. It took patience as I had to wait for each wash to dry before adding the next layer. I am happy with the outcome and glad I pushed myself.
