This ink and watercolor piece is a close up of a Great Horned Owl, with particular attention to the eye. The reflection in his left eye, is a reference to one of my more popular pieces entitled "Where I Dream". It is a tree from a recurring dream that I started having after my father passed away. In this dream, I meet my father under this tree and we have discussions about all of the things that that I wish that I could talk to him about in reality. All that is expressed in this eye is larger than life itself. There is fire and wisdom, there is hope and honor, there is sincerity and sadness. This is my opus.
Post Type: Traditional Art
Mixed Media: None | All of my work begins with ink to page, there is no pencil sketch. I plot my work out for composition and proportion with dots and then begin to fill it with details. I use ink for the permanence and if I make a mistake, then I have to figure out how to make that work. Much like life.
