#1 Ranked Digital Artist!

Reviewing

<< Thread Modifed November 16 at 7:28PM >>

I have to say, I got a review today that has since been taken down by the reviewer because they basically bashed digital art and I confronted them on it. I have no problem with peoples personal views on it. I don't like watercolor art but it doesn't mean I don't respect the artist skill in who created it. If I don't like a certain art work i will skip it. To leave a review based on your own personal views of the medium used is unethical in my eyes, just so you can get the points and member dollars is wrong.

There is a artist on this site who draws nudes alot. I may review some of them but I don't like nudes but I like the artist and appreciate the skill in which he creates. I will let him know my view on nudes but review the art for not the subject matter itself but the creativity and skill of the one who created it.

I also will not get into the debate of digital art vs traditional art. Every one has the right to believe what they want. I have done both and I prefer digital art because of the range it offers without the overall expense. I hear people say it's a easy way out, these people often have no clue what digital art really is. Take a class from Aaron Blaise then revisit me and say it's cheating or easy. I have taken several of his courses and I am still learning. He was the creator and artist of the lion king cartoon at Disney. Anyway, I just wish people would give a constructive review instead of their thoughts on digital art rather than the image itself. If you don't care for one or more of my images feel free to skip on by... I am ok with that.

This is a good quote written by Dan Luvisi: (LOVE THIS ARTIST)
Times change, art and styles evolve, and the world will not wait up for you, so you better adapt one way or the other.

That's not to say painting will ever die, but I've come to realize that we are in one of the most prolific times ever, where technology is literally evolving every hour of the day, techniques are improving and doubling, and there is not only just one way to produce art.

Art is art, it will always be a universal expression of creativity, imagination and story telling, whether through music, painting, sculpting, or writing.

The lesson I learned is, don't be so quick to judge just because you don't prefer the medium being used. It matters not the tool used, but the product that was born from it. A lot of artists have put thousands of hours into honing their craft, and growing the gut to put it out there for the world to see.

And I think that's a lot more powerful than the debate of whether digital art is real or not.

RE: Reviewing
Of course Lynnmarie you are right, guess we all have different thoughts on things on here.
My thoughts in regards to digital and ai is i can see why people want to try it and has advantages for sure,my concern [and i am probarly wron] is that people over a period of time be it artists/photographers will give up those mediums for them, and that would be a shame,i love going out and taking photos the thing is i enjoy interaction with people when i go to events etc as much as taking the photos,my though is although doing things on the computer etc i would lose that.
Technology is moving fast and you only have to see the adverts for new phones to see that[even seen one using ai ] to see that and i feel people are losing the art of communication because of that.
But do agree that you when reviewing digital/ai it should be about the content.
