This is fantastic. The close-up on this picture is fantastic. If I wanted to I could count every feather. I love the seed in his mouth as well. I love that you used the entire frame for the bird's head. The lighting, focus and technique is totally excellent. Can you tell I really like this photo?

Fantastic definition in her feathers. And the detail in her eye is on the Wow factor for me. The angle is wonderful too, she almost seems to be coming out of the frame at me.

I am stunned by your ability to get such detailed close-up shots of these specimens. Truly fantastic work. Being able to see each and every individual feather on this little girl's face is really intriguing. I wish her beak hadn't gotten out of focus, but that is a pretty small loss in the grand scheme of this photograph. It's impressive that you can even see the reflection of the environment in her eyes. You take wildlife portraits like no other person I have seen on this site. Keep up the great work.

Strong initial impact. Great sense of power. especially the eyes.

Beautiful she is, Willie, and a fantastic photo for you. Looks to me like she's going to be chowing down on that sunflower seed right quick like. You've done such a beautiful job here. The colors are over the top beautiful. Nature often makes the male of a species the standout one, but that does not mean the female is not beautiful as well. Here in Kansas we have a multitude of Ring Neck Pheasants, and the colorful/not colorful is very apparent in them. Thank you for this. It's great

Thank you so very much! The female is a drab looking brown/tan untill you get real close like this. For a photograph I think the female is easier to get because the male is so bright you loose a little detail.

We have Cardinals, or Red Birds as their sometimes known around here as well. Not too many, but not rare either. They are gorgeous, and you did an outstanding job on this.
