This is just beautiful Cleo. I love the run of colors in the candles as they melt. i love the wonderful flame you have created. The image as a whole is just a perfect presentation of Christmas. I would love to be able to paint this well.

Thank you Bren, you are so kind. Getting a high rating from a friend who is a skilled artist herself is a honor but also somehow humbling. I never really know how to say thanks for it.
The candles were a real challenge. I have several versions, I needed many hours to find out how to archive that candle glow and the flames.

Well, however you did it, it looks beautiful. Bren

Thank you very much. I love Christmas and candles and the glow of excitement in the eyes of children, and I love the spirit and magic even most grown ups can't resist. I tried to put that magic into the picture.

Wonderful painting. I can actually feel the warmth of the fire. Great composition and festive mood. The red of the poinsettias adds a lot to
the overall beauty.

Very nice digital painting! I also use Artrage and understand the complexity of this type of work. I really love the way you've created the brightness of the flames and the subject matter is great as well! I hope this was your Christmas card! Bravo.

Gosh, What a beautiful Christmas card this would make! Your colors are bright and VERY Christmasy! Love the candles and the whole scene.
I love the green you have in here and think that it's more than enough for the contest, but I know some others will probably disagree.

Love the placement of your candles and decorations! Nicely Done!

Good Luck In The Contest!

The art is very beautiful and has a soft tone. I love the color harmony and the flames almost flicker. The lighting is just right in this art--great job. How are crayons used--just curious, sounds so interesting. I really only do photography, but if I try amother medium, this one is very appealing.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your review and I am honored by your hig rating. The Crayons were use to render the painting; but this is a digital painting. Digital ctayons come out a little different than real ones. The tools in my paint program are similar to traditional; but not completely alike. These crayons are didital creons. I used them mainly, to put the silver in and the shine around the flames, buthan I smoothed them with the palette knive. This lind of digital painting [2D-painting] is pretty much done like traditional painting, brush stroke by brush stroke. I just move the thools with my fingers on a mousepad. There is one adventage to traditional painting. It's not in the book. It can found out only by experimenting with the program. All the tools and colors [oilpaint, watercolor, crayon, chalk could be mixes or pverlayd with each other, but it's a bit too complicated to explain here. I work about 50 to 80 hours on a painting like this. Thanks again very much.

Thanks so much, cleo, for this very detailed reply. No sooner than I'd sent the reply I realized it was digital and thought, oh no, that explains the crayons. But not like this way you have so graciously explained. And in no way did I mean to say this work wasn't worth more than I offered, it is. It was just all I could offer financially. It's just so beautiful and I had no idea how long it takes to do this. HAve a very happy week and a wonderful Christmas:)
