Great painting , fantastic color composition , I like the eyes looking very mystical and smart at the same time , just enough light to show beauty of the cat

Very cool. I love the white bib. It looks like a Santa beard. LOL Great focus, shows off the little white hairs in the cat's ears. My cat was solid black, so I'm well aware of how difficult it is to get any detail in a photo. Your approach of eliminating it altogether works well. Good luck in the contest.

Very appropriate name for this cat. I like the oil paint filter a great deal. When applied on animal's coats, it makes them look very soft and very very silky. Black on black does not always work but on this occasion it is spectacular. Of course those white whiskers, white V under the chin and those lime green eyes all have very important roles to play!

Very nice image. I love how certain areas only show up against the black background. Those eyes are electric. The white so pretty. Great composition. Wonderful photo!
thank you, Natalie

Liquorice looks like a person dressed in a suit who has been magically transformed into a cat for the evening.
Very dignified. Very good looking. I like the low key and the oil filter.
With your capture of his wonderful eyes, it has a rather formal ancestral portrait look to it. Very charming.

Yes, his eyes stand out so well against the black.
I also like his black fur against the black backround.
It promotes our focus on his eyes. The white of his whiskers and hair bring in contrast.
Actually the black of his fur shows some green, I think and that as well as the pink from his ears, enriches the color scheme.
Well chosen vertical frame, and nice amount of space all around him.
I do like the oil filter, and this is a good picture to use it on. It gives an almost painterly effect.
nice angle, with body facing side and head turned front.
very clean portrait..meaning no distracting elements.
Good clarity throughout.
well done and I like this.

The final result is amazing! The black against black is very dramatic. Those eyes are beautiful. Great frame and lighting. Good job!

I do like the post work on this, adds a mysterious and eerie feel. The eyes do stand out very amazing, and for me, it is the textures of the ear hairs, and the "bib" that make this almost seem to glow from the shadows..of course, the whiskers too! Donkeyoatey
