I wish I had more stars to give you here. My son just returned home from the Army, and has severe PTSD. It's heart breaking. The eyes are spot on. Dark and nothing there.

As an army vet myself my heart goes out to ya. Even though there is help available to him thru va its getting him there willingly is the real challenge. I don't offer any real answers for as all of us humans r individuals and we act differently in situations. The one thing that is common is to get help. U know sometimes a military Chaplin can just as well as a doctor. Their job is to help the soul.. Wink. Thanks for the great review.

Great job in capturing the haunted look of PTSD. It is a remember of what our veteran's contribution to our country. You can almost see into his soul. Love the picture

MK, YOU nailed the look! When I saw this image I thought the eyes were so vacant and had the look of a deep abyss. I was a little worried about reviewing because I didn't connect with Post Tramatic Stress right away, even with the title. It didn't sink in till I read your notes!

I can't even imagine the memories soldiers who have fought on the front line carry inside. I have a friend on FS who was stabbed twice and shot once in one event in Vietnam. His Captain was wounded too and he carried his Captain on his back to the rescue helicopter. Before he got there there was an explosion behind him. When he got to the helicopter, he was asked why he was carrying his Captain, by the helicopter crew. It was only then he discovered, the explosion had taken the lower portion of his Captain's body!

How does one go on with memories like that, that haunt you forver?

THe reason I included the info above was to let you know, how the face of this soldier captures the pain of what he's seen, especailly the eyes.

You did an incredible job drawing this!I saw the emotional pain instantly! Thus the six stars My Friend! :o) Helvi

Wow! This looks so real. The hat looks superbly great, for a marker. I can feel its textures and it looks a hat from the store. like a photograph. Excellent framing and presentation. Sharpness and clarity, high!

Thank you for honoring our veterans. This is a great representation of our service men. The army green is great color to highlight the scene. The strong features and set jaw line depicts his devotion and sense of pride for his service. Well done.

Another great creation. I love the fact that you were helping somone else out with this. Great and powerful message on this Veteran's Day. Too many people don't understand that freedom is not free...it takes it's toll on brave men and women. Nicely done Sir!

wow! Very haunting image with the eyes. Like an alien. What those eyes have seen that is alien to us civilians. I can't believe you did this with sharpies/Bic markers. Amazing!

been working with sharpies now for about 4 decades..if u get the chance I have almost 300 works with 13 pages on here. I don't think u would be bored with the broad range of subjects I cover..wink ..thanks for the great review.

You know I always support your work, but I don't get the eyes in this. I'm assuming that you were trying to convey the PTSD and the horrors these eyes have seen, but I get the feeling of sightlessness because they are all black. Your technique is always great, the colors, the shadows the realism, but these eyes spook me.

well for one if u look close u do see a small spark in the eyes..but if i have to explain it then i did not do my job right as an illustrator..my apology..thanks for the review
reply by ABG Photography on 11-Nov-2013
I did see the spark, but I think it needs the pupil so that it doesn't look like he was punched in the eyes. Remember, this is only my opinion, you are the artist, go with your gut.
