Absolutely superb, Annie. Don't know what the previous background looked like but this on is perfect because it is an appropriate environment for the wolf and also because it is so nicely muted to let the details of the wolf take prominence. Ah, those details are phenomenal. Your expertise and time spent on getting just right rings true in every element of the wolf. Very close to being photographic. The fur looks like I can reach in and touch it. In the end what is really most impressive is the spot on use of shadow and light. Bringing the face from shadow to light from right to left is artistically stunning and visually appealing. Masterful in every way. Congratulations!

Thank you so very much for the lovely review Ed, and of course also for the 6 stars.

Wow, amazing realism with the wolf! Do you use the same techniques of using the digital brushes as if you were doing the painting with real paint and brushes?

This is fantastic! I'm sorry I'm out of six stars because this deserves it. I just can't believe you painted this on a computer.
The angle of the nose leads the viewer's eyes into the picture. The eyes are perfect. They are in focus, as they should be with a photograph, but then you made the ears and the tips of the nose just a little out of focus, just like they should be for a photo. You even put the flash reflection in the eyes.
Magnificent job.

The eyes have it. I love the super sharp detail. This has the look and feel of a portrait. What bothers me is the ears. I'm not sure what is going on there. Suddenly the definition is lost. That light patch on his right ear needs explaining. Otherwise a very nice work.

As you can see I have done a few adjustments, like making another background. What do you think ? Thanks for the nice review.

Super duper. Great fix. I wish I lived near you so I could get lessons. You are clearly the most savvy (knowledgable about techniques) of anyone on this site. BTW--those eyes! They tell such a great story. Now this is a 6! No an 8! Cheers, James.

I am glad you approve of the changes, but I don't see any 6 or 8 stars. LOL

Glorious photograph. The light reflection on the side face is perfect to bring out those cunning alert eyes. Like our dingoes the wolf was nearly taken out of existence. I am happy that they have been saved. Thanking you for taking the time to make this such a beautiful photograph. Sandy

oh this is quite a picture and I had to look twice and three times to be sure it was not a picture. Absolutely perfect and I have known a lot of wolves in northern Canada

I don't like this, I love it. What beautiful light to bathe this amazing animal. It's hard to look away from him. The background is simple and perfect allowing you to really take in the subject.

I think the wolf is well drawn and detailed. The fur has nice structure and the eyes look well rendered and very believable. All of that aspect of the artwork is very good, and deserves all the kudos for a very believable wolf.

I do think however it falls apart in the negative space, there is this smudging behind the ears that looks too separated from the rest of the background.

I am thinking with your eye for detail that the background looks a little off as stated and a little too plain. To me the composition needs something there to help break up the space. It needs the viewer to associate him with and give him an environment. He looks to studio posed I guess is my problem with that area, know what I mean?

I see what you mean Lucien. I think I was working so hard with the fur that I forgot the rest. LOL I have changed the format slightly and also done another background. What do you think ? I actually like this version a lot better myself.

Bravo!! I like the additions. I think now it looks like a complete composition & that meets the titles expectations, what it is promising to deliver. there still seems to be a little distortion behind the ear on the right, almost reminds me, like a windows reflection.

Still, I like what You have done, have great day... Cheers!!
