I wish I had more stars to give you, this is amazing. DO you start with a photo or is all just free hand digital painting and drawing? I love it. I have photoshop, I need to learn to use the brushes. Love it.

Thank you so very much for the lovely review. It is free hand digital art, but I do of course have a photo as reference.

You always get it right. However, we are our own worst critics, Wonderful details and color tones. And the eyes are perfect. Professionally done. Nice work:o)

He is beautiful, Annie. The lighting is fantastic! Wolves are one of my favorite animals. Superb work on his fur and eyes. Excellent composition and conformation on the wolf. Gorgeous painting!! Question just out of curiosity... what size and rez do you upload at? If that's a trade secret, you don't have to answer that. LOL. :)MW

It is not a trade secret at all, but I never pay attention to the size. I had to have a look, and image size is 2427x3466 and file size 3040 KB. Thanks a lot for the very lovely review and the 6 stars,

This is a beautiful portrait of the gorgeous wolf and your hours of work with digital art were certainly worth it. I love the expression in his beautiful eyes.

Great use of colours and love the fur. Suzanne

It's worth the diligence spent in coming up with this elegant portrait.
The right-sided lighting creates an interesting, contemplating countenance as if thinking on what to have for dinner with his whole family...
Monochromatic tonal variations are well rendered.
Excellent lighting, focusing & framing.
Thanks!

Annie, I didn't know you to be an artist...a photographic artist yes but a traditional (or digital art) too?

Well, you already know I am a sucker for KISS and this upload is very strong for initial impact. The detail is spellbinding. The composition dynamic and you have captured the soul of the animal in this piece and also his fragility for at the end of a bullet they succumb easily.

The light source is easily seen and it is warm which makes me love this animal even more than I already do.

The only constructive criticism I can offer is around his ears, especially the one on our right...there seems to be an echo of ear, or in other words almost a too strong shadow there...but really this is a very minor moan.

It's interesting that I tell photographers that their photographs look like art and when a piece of art is exceptional I tell the creator that it looks like a photograph.

Annie, this is really sensational work...puts my faith back into digital artistry. HOw long did it take you to do this?

I have actually been painting in oil for years and also water colors. I very often think of taking it up again, but the PC is less messy. LOL I am not sure exactly how much time I used, but I was working on it for 5 days.

Thanks for the lovely review Olga.

You are a very gifted individual Annie I hope you are nurturing your gifts over and above FAR site.

PS I just posted a photo and a link to tourists eating Smalahove in Norway. If you want to have a huge laugh today do access the link.

I will indeed do. LOL To be quite honest, this is one of the few things I have not tasted myself.

I see you added that background it is much better IMHO. Annie, do you know of Robert Bateman? He's a Canadian artist...you can google him ...but this work reminds me of his stuff...do have a look.

OMG! This is amazing. Your technique is superior! I though it was a photo not a digital painting. The details are fabulous. It has a wonderful sense of depth and stirs the senses on all levels. Extremely well done.

When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a photograph.

Very nice. Love the details and the glow of the lighting. The eyes really have that "wolf" look
