I keep coming back to look at this one. Finally figured it out. The white gray tin roof is of course the focal point. However, as bright as it is it fits right in with the red barn that is complemented by the light green grass and being overpowered by the faded rust colored forest above. The little blue lake at the bottom grounds the scene and adds a gentle "country" note. This picture brought back some memories of little farms and old worn down barns and houses I have seen in North Carolina and Tennessee. Reasons for my five star vote.

Thank you very much for your insightfull review. A friend told me that my painting reminds him of William Turner who "...turned light into emotion." This is indeed what I mtried to do, filling my landscape with emotions. :o)

What a beautiful fall scene. The foliage is a harmonious blend of bright reds, golds and browns. The accentuated the barn nicely. The white roof and blue foreground color pull you into the scene. This is a great contest entry and possible win. Good luck in the contest.

This is just beautiful. The soft brush strokes and autumn colors are reminiscent of an Indian Summer day. The old barn is so quaint and is a striking focal point. The lights and darks add depth.
