If you are so inclined a bit of a gruesome photograph. To me and I suppose the way of nature, superb camera work infact a little masterpiece.

Thank you so very much for a great review and high score. This bird is a bird hawk. Its main food is other birds.

    Thanks Willie.

Definitely excellent timing for this image and the bird looks as though he is very aware of you and standing guard over his catch. Great composition and focus.

This is indeed an excellent entry for the contest Willie, and it must have been quite an experience to be able to capture a scene like this. I bet it isn't too many opportunities you get. The bird is really standing out well against the softened background.

Your focus is spot on and sharp showing clear and well defined details in every part of the bird and also its prey. The exposure is excellent and the colors really crisp and clear.

I think the way you have cropped this photo is working really well and the bird has got a good placement off to the left. This is indeed a well taken shot and with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

This rocks my friend. A very powerful expression of life and death! The details are intenst and very sharp. The look in the hawks eye tells me he is not willing to share. Great natural colors. Great positioning in the shot. Just and incredible piece and you will get my vote. thanks for sharing.

Initial Impact:

I think we have a real contender for this contest - I also think you need to have a Your Shot account with National Geo for possible recognition in their publication as well. WOW!

Technical Elements:

Willie - your focus and depth of field could not be any better. Your use of Topaz is tasteful here and pushes the image to the boundary of a "Tradition" all around excellent photo without crossing any elements of realism in a nature shot. Your white balance is optimal and achieved natural colors and tones. I see no noise or dust.

Artistic Elements:

Yes - a perfect example of being at the right place at the right time. I personally find your crop, frame and overall presentation to be very well thought through and executed; you demonstrate (as you taught me) the effectiveness of allowing more space in front of the subjects head position in the frame.

Summary:

You have certainly raised the bar with this entry. A top of the line photo with loads of detail, story, depth and overall quality. Nice work.
